Fabrics like a breezy day...

04/24/2008, 19:25 | Original Site: ::Surroundings::

How cute are these Kravet fabrics - both called Lady Day? I just ran across them and am so enamored I wanted to share.

Kravet fabrics are available to the trade.

Tiny Chairs - How cute are these!

04/21/2008, 07:02 | Original Site: ::Surroundings::

Miniature Chairs Set

Dimitra & Bill of Up To You in Toronto sent word of these cute - and tiny - reproductions that they are carrying. There ar four different designer sets (9 chairs in each set,). Designers represented include: Eames, Mackintosh, Mies van der Rohe, Prouve, etc. Each set of nine chairs is $95 and there are a total of 36 chairs available at $12 each.

These are great alternatives to the Vitra chair minis, which I saw at Conrans in Paris a couple of months ago. (I've been waiting for a chance to use these images!)

What is it about tiny things? So cute!

Jewelry From Mio Studio

Mio Studio successfully combines natural wood grains with metal and cable for a unique modern look. It's organic and industrial at the same time and so expertly executed.

Textiles & Trim from Nuno

04/10/2008, 21:06 | Original Site: Design Hole
I found a cute fabric company, Nuno, which makes kid's fabrics and trims. The company hails from Japan, but ships all over the world.

Their fabrics are cotton and linen. They're sold by the square (50cm x 55cm) or (19.5" x 21.5"). Some are also available in traditional widths and are sold by the meter. Their designs are quite unique, with a Japanese twist that has become very popular.

These would be perfect for quilters and other home-dec projects. They also don't have to be limited to children's things. Tea towels, placemats, and other things with a funky twist to them would be great. Nuno's prices are good, too. The Little Matryoshka print sells for about $5.00 per square.

And the mailman delivered......

Look at ALL the awesome things that arrived in my mailbox today & last week! The colorful STRIPED fabric I won on EBAY, this is the same fabric I posted about a few posts down. I was so inspired by these Louis chairs (which so many people loved) that I went searching for similar fabric. I also scored the 4 Beatles Avedon (fake) prints....the real ones are a bit $$$ for me to splurge on right now. However, we all know that with the right frames they'll look just as cute! And last but not least, my cushions arrived! These are by Karen Hilton Designs, and they'll be at my booth at the 'National Stationery Show' this May. A quick thanks to Karen for everything!

I have to say thanks to Belinda, writer at Real Living Magazine AU for the cute pic she posted on her blog of my ABC Kids prints! Lucky Zak (her son), his room was featured on Apartment Therapy for kids 'Oh Dee Doh'. Here's a pic of the print, she had to place it up high on a shelf because Zak kept pointing at his name! Smart boy. Thanks again Belinda for the cute post!

BELOW are some shots of other variations of the ABC Kids Prints offered via my shop. They can be customized with any 'color scheme' as well as any name up to 12 letters! Available in 3 different sizes.

IKEA fialena

02/26/2008, 15:48 | Original Site: red.house

: : This is a new serie of patterns at IKEA, called .fialena. I adore the name, it's what my parents would always call my sister. she was .fialena., I was .pyret. and my brother .skrotten. Maybe not the most flattering name for my brother, but it was very cute when he was young.

Anywho, these patterns are very much in line with the current scandinavian folklore pattern trend that's happening. making me think my own patterns are very current and aligned with this trend?? IKEA why won't you call?

I found this while I was browsing the .style files. blog.

If you've been reading Kstyle for awhile you know that I am a diehard University of Oregon duck fan. So check out this darling "green and yellow" purse I found at J. Crew. I just came back from a weekend in Eugene to attend the Oregon/USC basketball game and I could've sold a hundred of these just standing in the lobby. too cute, k

I am particularly fond of viewing photos of Design Public products in action…like folks swinging on a Fatboy Headdemock, or modeling with their Vitra Nelson Clock, or dressing up their OFFI My Pet Lamp. In this case, the “action shot du jour” is of four legged friend Mr. Buddy scratching his little heart out on a Marmalade pet care Sweet Lounge Cat Bed and sitting on a Hepper Wave Pet Bed. my new tiny revolution ~ the results show

00/00/0000, 00:00 | Original Site: studio wellspring
so you might be curious . . . . . what is the news? which tiny revolution will we be welcoming into the world in october?
first off let me say, i would have been perfectly happy with either one ~ both boys & girls are equally delightful in my eyes. i was most concerned about being sure the lil' peach was healthy & happy in its little cocoon . . . . . so the best news of all is YES, the wee one is perfectly healthy ~ 5 1/2 inches and 9 ounces of adorably healthy tinyness with an excellent heartbeat & a very cute lil face, if i do say so myself. thanks so much to my amazing supportive network of family & friends for being there {either in person or via speaker phone} in the ultrasound room with me. it made it even more exciting to share in the moment with all of you!
and the answer is: a girl!
and she's already quite the dancer, since at 19 weeks i've been feeling her kick around, especially after tango class. the most delightful thing i've ever experienced, so far! ;o)
but don't let the news cause you to get all pink & frilly on me, because that's just not at all my style ~ and at least until she can choose for herself, it won't be her style either. in fact, so far my favorite inspiration for her space {i won't call it a nursery since it's likely we won't have the luxury of a separate room for that} is this modern nursery set from dwell studios:
so, thanks again everybody for your supportiveness ~ the emails & phone calls & cards have been pure joy, wonderful gems of positive uplift that i can't thank you enough for!

59. Pink

00/00/0000, 00:00 | Original Site: let your creativity .... FLOW

while shopping around Home Outfitters this past weekend, i came across these really cute breast cancer ribbon sprinkles and instantly purchased a handful for cupcakes that i'm baking for my girlfriends bridal shower next month. her mother passed away from breast cancer a few years ago and her wedding colors pink & brown were decided upon as a memorial for her mother. i couldn't resist these ...

so i'm thinking of baking vanilla cupcakes with these cute ribbon sprinkles on them for all the guests to take home as part of their gift bag :)

Drawing on walls

00/00/0000, 00:00 | Original Site: Hue
My friend Amy just emailed me about a fabulous product she read about on Daily Candy: magnetic chalkboard paint.

How cool is that? Not only can you now draw on your walls, but you can also stick stuff directly to them! The thing I most appreciate about this concept is that chalkboards don't have to be black or green. No, now you can have blues and purples and orange or whatever suits your fancy.
I remember when I was a teenager, my walls were absolutely plastered with pages from magazines (mostly cute boys), photos of friends, posters, mementos... You could barely see the walls. And I can only imagine the damage I probably did to the walls themselves, with sticky tape and thumbtacks. This product seems like the perfect solution.

I remember seeing a great use for chalkboard paint in a family's house- they painted the bathroom walls, then wrote notes to themselves and each other (keeping it clean, of course).

Evidently, you can make your own chalkboard paint, too (via Martha Stewart)

And here's another idea- the chalkboard paint doesn't have to completely cover a space- you can artistically end it wherever you please.

Alas, I can't vouch for the quality of the paint. Have any of you had any experience with this product? What creative ways would you use it?

Flea Market Project: Cannell and Chaffin

00/00/0000, 00:00 | Original Site: katiedid

I needed a little side table next to the chair in my Master Bedroom. Budget was an issue. Things add up after all. So I went hunting at the Sacramento Antique Faire the other weekend. I found this:

Cute huh? I thought a quick paint job would fix 'er right up.

I also found this:

After consulting my Mom, (who is a wealth of knowledge BTW), I found out that this company was producing high end quality furniture out of L.A. when she was a girl. So I did a little more digging. Apparently Cannell and Chaffin was/is a prestigious Furniture and Interior Design company started in Los Angeles in 1917.....and this is where my trail ends.

Does anyone have any more information about this company? I am quite curious.

I am planning to paint it gloss white with a pale turquoise top inside of the tray rim. I will show the "after" as soon as I can get all of the old lacquer sanded out of all the lovely little CREVICES!

Katiedid Pillow at Wisteria

00/00/0000, 00:00 | Original Site: katiedid

OK....I may have to get this pillow, new from Wisteria. Is it "me" or what? $99

Wisteria just put out their latest and prettiest. The headboards, lamp, pillows, shell frame...yup...all new. But the cute kitty...you may be on your own there.

Here are a few more things among the many that I thought were particularly wonderful:

Driftwood Candelabra, $79

Suzani Pillow, 22x14, $99

Suzani Pillow, 18x18, $89

Botanical Salad Plates, $59....Not bad as wall decor either!

Chinese Teapot Lamp, $299

Architectural Window Mirror, $399

Lighting Millinery

00/00/0000, 00:00 | Original Site: The Peak of Chic

Before I left home for college, my mother warned me about mixed drinks and alcoholic punches- too much and I might end up with a lampshade on my head. Well, I heeded Mother's advice and thankfully got through school without any major embarrassments. But after seeing these lamps by mat&jewski, I say bring on the Hunch Punch! I'm ready to wear these lampshades.

Now, I'm not really a fan of flouncy or cutesy lamps and shades. And despite the whimsy of the mat&jewski lamps, they unfortunately would not work in my home. But I just couldn't help but think of those great feathered hats that women used to wear. You know, women like Doris Day, Audrey Hepburn, and the like. Maybe it's time for feathered millinery to make a comeback. And you can start with one of these lamps at your next party. Just don't say that my mother and I didn't warn you about the punch.

Flickr Fun!

rev-girl-dog-w-frames.jpg

Do you have a flickr surfing pattern? I’ve just started to recognize my own pattern. First, I desperately look up “recent activity” to see if anyone has commented on anything I have, which rarely ever happens and it’s very exciting when it does. Then I go to photos from my contacts, flip through the first four pages or so, and then I head to my groups. The first group I always hit is our Anti-Depressive Living group, and that’s where I found this gem. I love Revolutionary Girl’s frame wall, but I think I love her dog even more. He’s just the most photogenic pooch I’ve ever seen - I think he could give the Anti-Depressive Living Group’s mascot, Liberace, a run for his money on the cute scale. Here’s another shot - he does not seem to have a bad side!

rev-girl-dog1.jpg

Revolutionary Girl’s pictures are really fun to look through - she includes all the prices of her flea market goodies, and you can see how her rooms have evolved. I did not see that she had a blog anywhere, but if she did, I’m sure it would be a daily read for me.

House Tour - Simone & Richard's Beach House

Vintage ladies swimmers framed and hung on a wall in the breakfast room.

An Australian flag flies in the wind on the property next door.

A vintage tea towel framed in a vintage frame which Simone has given a fresh coat of white paint.

What's a beach house without a set of vintage oars??

Vintage vases filled with flowers from the garden adorn table tops throughout the house.

Jody's house warming gift - perfect pink and white cupcakes from The Cupcake Company.

As time passes Simone will collect more bits and pieces to fill this gorgeous little shelf.

Vintage cane dining chairs - another fabulous Ebay find!!

A sailing boat with a navy blue hull sailed past in the afternoon....so pretty!

OMG - It's a head vase!! I LOVE head vases and this one is gorgeous and was filled with fresh flowers picked from the garden.

The 2 wing chairs came from Ebay with a 4 seater sofa. They work so perfectly in the room!!

A beautiful collection of vintage things above.

My favourite thing was the pair of vintage child's swimmers framed and hung on the wall. What a beautiful idea!!

This vintage chair was in Charli's bedroom...so cute!!

I think I might have been bidding against her on this yellow cane chair on Ebay not so long ago...

Inside Simone has opted for mismatched vintage dining chairs around the breakfast room table.

I am so thrilled to be able to share with you these pictures of the most beautiful beach house owned by my friends Simone & Richard and their little daughter Charli. Yesterday we were invited to lunch with 4 of our other friends and their children at their new home which they just moved into only a few months ago.

Simone is one of the most creative people I know. She owns a gorgeous little shop in Bulimba in Brisbane called House & Doll which is filled to the brim with pretty children's toys. A lover of all things vintage Simone has decorated their new home from scratch with the most fabulous pieces of furniture and accessories all of which she has either purchased on Ebay or at the shop at their local tip. Everything in their home is cherished and loved and put together with so much style and creative genius, something that money can't buy.

We were all treated to a special lunch cooked by our friend Jody and as we sat and enjoyed the view of the bay on a perfect day we chatted and watched the children play on the grass in front of us. I cooked my famous lemon and coconut cake for dessert (well only famous within my family and friends) and I topped it with fresh flowers which I picked from Simone's garden. Jody also took some gorgeous cupcakes from The Cupcake Company as a house warming gift which we all enjoyed.

It really was the most perfect Sunday lunch and I was completely in awe of their beautiful home and Simone's amazing creativity. It just goes to show that even working on a tight budget you can create something very, very special. I just can't wait to go back for another visit!!

4. a spa tub to soak in with an incredible view

5. to continue being myself and living my life with joy, strength, and a sense of awe, no matter what comes my way.
