53. Coffinier Ku Design
00/00/0000, 00:00 | Original Site: let your creativity .... FLOWA new found respect for....
Coffinier Ku Design, Ltd. was founded in 1998 as Etienne Coffinier Design to bring a French-trained expertise in architecture and interior design to the United States market. The firm specializes in high-end residential and restaurant projects primarily in the greater New York area. Designs is based in the classicism of French design but with surprising contemporary influences and concentrates strongly on custom design both architecturally as well as in all furnishings.
I absolutely adore the window treatment, the soft puddling on the ground luminated by a glow from above from the coved inset along the window frame. Sheer elegance!
This kitchen is not only my favorite color - white, but it also has great banquette seating tucked away off to the side.
Travel Bags With Color
00/00/0000, 00:00 | Original Site: Design Mind
Piquadro and the University of Florence School of Architecture collaborated to present 14 travel bag concepts developed by the 3rd year Industrial Design students. The objective was to meet the needs of the modern traveler who must move regularly for business on multiple modes of transport, and obviously for one who is not afraid of a bit of color. 00/00/0000, 00:00 | Original Site: The Peak of Chic
I'm sure many of you remember James Andrew's fabulous apartment that was featured a few years back in Elle Decor. First, there were the references to iconic designers of twentieth century design (the Billy Baldwin dog painting, Frances Elkins loop chairs, and a footstool of Elsie de Wolfe). And then there was that library!! James has quite an impressive collection of books. So how could I not ask James what his favorite designs books are?
After an early career in finance, James decided to pursue his first love- interior design. Working first for Ralph Lauren Home and later for Parish-Hadley (Albert Hadley has been both mentor and friend to James), he decided to strike out on his own in 2000. And ever since then, James has been decorating from coast to coast and continent to continent. Recently, James was described by Stella magazine as being an "updated David Hicks". I'd say that is quite a compliment, don't you?
(James just informed me that he has started a new blog entitled What is James Wearing - a site where James shares his enthusiasm for all things sartorial as well as his thoughts on design. I think you will find that James has an extensive wardrobe and takes great delight in choosing his outfits!)

1) Parish-Hadley: Sixty Years of American Design

2) Albert Hadley: The Story of America's Preeminent Interior Designer

3) Dupré Lafon- décorateur des millionaires

4) David Hicks on Home Decoration

) Frances Elkins: Interior Design

6) In the Pink: Dorothy Draper- America's Most Fabulous Decorator

Barbara's Moroccan cooking: a medley of dishes from Morocco
08/19/2008, 12:12 | Original Site: My MarrakeshSigh, she loved eating - her waistline was visible proof. And she poured over cooking blogs.....dreaming, dreaming. One of her favorites was Winos and Foodies, by the lovely Australian blogger, Barbara. So she asked, Please Barbara....would you, could you do a guest blog for me on some Moroccan dishes?
And look what arrived on her blog doorstep! Mmmmmmm......
All recipes on Barbara's delicious blog, right here.......
********************************************************
If the blogging fairy came along and tapped you on the shoulder and said "you can choose to spend the day with any blogger in the world " - who would you choose? I'd choose to spend the day with Maryam in Morocco.
We'd sip mint tea and eat stuffed dates while she showed me all the pretty rugs and fabrics and glass jars she has collected on her travels.
Stuffed Dates
Remove seed from fresh dates and stuff with cheese and nuts of your choice. I like the salty feta cheese against the sweet date with the crunch of a pistachio nut. A soft brie with almonds also makes a tasty filling.
I'd ask Maryam to introduce me to her favourite couscous maker so I could I'd learn to make perfect couscous.
Plain Couscous
Add 400 ml of warm water to 350grams of couscous and 1/2 a teaspoon of salt. Rest for 10 minutes, then rub 2 tablespoons of olive oil into couscous to break up lumps and aerate the grains. Place in an ovenproof dish, dot with 20 grams butter, cover with foil and heat in 180C (350F) oven until the couscous is heated through, about 15 minutes. I often add brown flaked almonds. Pine nuts and dried fruits also go well with couscous.
Left over couscous is the perfect filling for stuffed vegetables.
Stuffed Tomatoes
Remove insides of tomatoes and cook to reduce to a sauce with onions, spices and preserved lemon. Mix with couscous and fill tomato cases. Bake in a 180C (350) for about 25 minutes.
Naturally we'd spend the afternoon shopping. When we returned to Peacock Pavilions we would enjoy a refreshing glass of pomegranate juice..................
Pomegranate Drink
Put some ice in a glass, add a dessert spoon of pomegranate syrup and top with soda water. For a sweeter drink replace soda water with lemonade. I'm sure a shot of vodka would work in this drink.
.................and some local olives.
Orange and Rosemary Olives
Crack olives with a meat mallet to split skins slightly. Marinade olives overnight in orange zest, rosemary spikes and olive oil.
In the evening we'd sit under the olive trees and eat platters of watermelon.
Citrus Watermelon
Remove skin and cube the watermelon. Sprinkle with freshly squeezed orange juice and scatter mint leaves over the platter.
Then just before midnight the blogging fairy would re-appear and it would be time to say goodbye to Maryam. I think I'd need some help to get all my shopping home.

One Really Cool Idea for an Original Swimming Pool
09/10/2008, 12:50 | Original Site: Home Design| Decorating Home | Interior Design | Furniture InspirationIf you’ve ever wanted a really nice pool for your house what you’re gonna see today might be a design that you’ll love. This is a creation of Taiwanese sculptor/artist Ju Ming and is called the “Zipper Pond“. This creative lotus pond is now one of the feature attractions of the Juming Museum, located in Taiwan, and I’m pretty sure that a lot of pictures were made in this place. Finally if you were looking for a really cool pool design and you couldn’t found one to impress you, then I hope that this one at least inspired you.

So Sylvie
08/26/2008, 17:10 | Original Site: katiedidNot only is her shop beautiful, but so is she. She has had a bit of hardship lately, which you can read about here. I hope you will join me in your support and well wishes by visiting her blog.
Sylvie is letting some of her very special pieces go on Craig's List so you might want to check things out here.
This etagere is one of the beauties being sold.
I wish I had gotten a chance to visit her shop in person, but I hope Sylvie will be starting a new chapter where her talents will flourish!
Wishing all good things for Sylvie and her family!

Photo Finish
00/00/0000, 00:00 | Original Site: BluelinesRecently I had the pleasure of working with photographer Kate Mathis again.
I met Kate years ago when i first started as an prop stylist assistant and have enjoyed her company and work ever since.
Many of you may recognize her work from the Martha Stewart product packaging photography. She shot both the craft line for Michaels to the Macy's collection.
Kate can take images like the simple paper flowers below to the sublime level.
With a discerning eye for composition and impeccable perspective and lighting, it's always a pleasure to be on set with Kate.
Below are a few shots from our most recent collaboration. (Food styling by Megan Schlow.) You can also look at her online portfolio for inspiration.

Christian Louboutin’s French Chateau
00/00/0000, 00:00 | Original Site: Hatch: The Design Public® BloIn spite of their torturous heel placement and the fact that they run ridiculously narrow, I love Christian Louboutin’s shoes. The man owns homes in Egypt, Paris, Portugal and the French countryside, so like the shoes he designs, he is ridiculously extravagant, but the resultant beauty seems worth the high-maintenance issues. I’ve seen his Egyptian sailboat featured here, but I had not seen his 13th century French chateau until I finally cracked open the October issue of In Style. It’s dreamy, and he accomplished his mission of making the place look like it “belongs to a family that has been traveling and accumulating for decades.”
Louboutin has such a wise attitude concerning what makes a house a home, and the value of the signs of age and life. I recommend picking up the issue just to read what he has to say about decorating.

Portland Coffee Tables
00/00/0000, 00:00 | Original Site: Landfair Furniture (Blog)The article pictures all the coffee tables that are in the Portland area! Remember that old Johnny Carson routine. Johnny's sidekick, Ed McMahon, would repeat that remark: "All the coffee tables that are in the Portland area!" Johnny would say, "Wrong horses' breath!" So here are a few more that you can find on our showroom floor:

faux bois fun
00/00/0000, 00:00 | Original Site: Design*Sponge
this morning while i was holding ms. jackson in my lap and waiting for her soft paws to dry, i flipped through the new williams sonoma catalog and pretended that she was really interested in hearing my opinion on everything inside. she clearly wasn’t, but i thought this faux bois chair was fun. i wish it had cuter legs (i’d like this kind) but the fabric is pretty fun. click here to check it out.
